Stretching

Stretching before exercise or physical activity can be helpful to lubricate joints, enhance range of motion and improve flexibility by warming up muscles, as well as reduce the risk of injury. It may also be helpful to stretch after exercise, during a cool-down phase to maintain long-term flexibility benefits.

In general, stretching may either be static, strecth and hold, or dynamic, mimic the movements to be used in the sport or activity. For example, if you are going to play tennis, you will want to practice side and front lunges as part of your warm-up. Focus on light, gentle, rhythmic movements with a shallow range of motion until you are thoroughly warmed up.
